Design

When your carry-on alone is not enough, checking a bag was never the answer.

The Basalt Carry-On System stacks flush on your carry-on suitcase and makes the most of what you can take on board, so nothing stays behind.

Through the airport, your passport, water and small essentials stay within reach. When you land, the Briefcase or the Backpack docks into the Base's back pocket, ready for the meeting ahead or a full day in the city.

We designed it as one system: three pieces that travel together and part ways when you arrive.

The system

  • The Base: slides over your suitcase's telescopic handle
  • The Briefcase: docks into the Base, ready for meetings
  • The Backpack: docks into the Base, ready for hands-free city days

Through the airport

  • Passport pocket: your documents at hand
  • Water bottle pocket: held in place, never loose
  • Small essentials pocket: AirPods, keys, whatever you reach for
  • Main compartment with three zippers: one opening always within reach
  • Magnetic strap tidy: the handle and shoulder strap stay neat

Built for travel

  • One monolithic piece of full-grain leather
  • Hydrofuge leather: keeps water out for 15 minutes
  • Back pocket sized for the Capra day packs
  • Handmade in our studio: hand cut and hand assembled

Water beading on Capra Leather's hydrofuge full-grain leather

Hydrofuge leather

We finish our full-grain leather so water runs off it. The finish closes the surface of the hide without changing how it looks or feels.

In our studio tests, it keeps rain out for about 15 minutes. It isn't waterproof: if it gets soaked, dry it with a cloth and the leather stays as it was.
